As

League Committee and any major disputes or incidents arising from its
use will be dealt with by the committee.

POSTING TO THE CAMBRIDGE AREA POOL LEAGUE FORUM IMPLIES ACCEPTANCE OF THESE
RULES.
If you don’t agree with them, then don’t post to the forum.
Comments made in here by Committee members are only personal comments and do
not represent a Committee viewpoint unless explicitly stated.
These rules will be enforced by a group of 'anonymous' moderators.
The rules may to be changed or added to from time to time to cater for unforseen
circumstances, so please revist them occasionally.
Please abide by the rules. If too much time has to be spent enforcing the rules
or it gets out of hand the forum will be removed.
As of May 29 2007 the forum will NOT be accepting members with email address's
from 'free' providers such as hotmail, yahoo, googlemail etc.... Forum members
with free email address's existing before 29/5/07 will be unaffected.
To register on the forum you must use a 'real' email address such as ntlworld,
bt, aol or work/college based one.
This is so we can more easily identify members (and report them to their ISP
if necessary) who continually abuse the forum, which sadly occurs far too often.
THE RULES
(1) Don’t join up to the forum with multiple usernames, if you have
problems with an account or password contact the administrator who will sort
out any problems. The only exception is for CAPL Committee members, who may
have one other username other than their ‘official one’ with which to make posts
in an unofficial capacity.
(2) Don't post personal/racial/ethnic/gender-based insults, slurs or
offensive comments.
(3) Don’t post pornography.
(4) Don't swear or bypass any of the forums built in swearing filter.
(Some swear words get automatically changed to something less offensive)
(5) Don't post personal information about someone else. e.g. phone numbers,
physical address details, email addresses etc. They can do it themselves if
they so desire.
(6) Don't make slanderous statements, or anything else that might violate
someone's privacy.
(7) Don't make posts that are inflammatory just to wind people up.
(8) Don't duplicate existing topics elsewhere.
(9) Don't threaten other users.
(10) Don’t impersonate other users or even other pool players who may
not be members of this forum.
(11) Don't get personal; a good general rule: Criticize ideas, not people
and even then do it constructively.
(12) Don’t start ‘personal’ conversations with someone on the forums
that are of no interest to anyone else. You can use the PM (personal message)
system to contact other members.
Personal messages are just that, PERSONAL. Do not under any circumstances repost
them on the forum
(13) Do keep messages on-topic and post on the appropriate topic board.
eg. Divisional boards are only to be used for discussion about that particular
division.
(14) Do be sure to read what the other person is actually saying and
not what you think they may be saying.
(15) Do be civilized and considerate and don’t get childish.
(16) Do watch what you say – you are legally responsible for what you
write.
(17) Banter is OK to a degree, but it can get out of hand. One person’s
banter can be taken the wrong way by someone else (especially in a textual format),
so be sensible.
Make use of the emoticons to make your intentions more obvious. (
)
(18) If you wish to remain anonymous, remember that any banter may cause
offence more easily.
(19) Try and avoid getting into an endless arguments with each side
going around in circles forever. Any threads that get like this may be locked
or deleted.
(20) Use ‘karma’ appropriately, i.e. when you
strongly agree/disagree with a particular post. Don’t’ just ‘exalt’ / ‘smite’
another user repeatedly just because you do/don’t like them. The administrator
can view all ‘exalts’ and ‘smites’ that get posted. Abuse of this will result
in a warning and a possible change in the other persons karma score.
- The karma facilty has been withdrawn as of 19/07/07 due to continued abuse.
(21) Do respect the Moderators' decisions – the Moderators reserve the
right to edit, relocate and/or remove any message, at any time, for any reason.
All moderator decisions should be considered final. We don’t have time to enter
into endless discussions about decisions.
(22) Do remember that the forums are moderated by a group of people
who have volunteered to put themselves in the position of making difficult judgement
calls. Following these guidelines/rules makes their life easier, and everyone's
experience visiting the forums more pleasant. We don’t want have to spend time
sorting out issues on here.
(23) Once warnings are issued, repeat offences may result in a ban from
the forum. (Temporary or permanent at a moderator’s discretion).
(24) Severe abuse of the rules may result in an immediate ban.
(25) Do not try to contact a moderator or administrator of this forum about
a ban or suspension as any discussion will not be entered into.
These are in addition to general proboards.com rules that you agree to when
registering to use the forum.
